For those of you without two pesos to rub together (like me), rest assured. There are free things to do in Montevideo any day of the week. Look out especially for opportune weekends that open doors to public buildings, including Dia del Patrimonio and Noche de los Museos. Of course, Friday features my free tours.
Monday: Walk on the Rambla (weather permitting)
Tuesday: Visit the Carnaval Museum.
Wednesday: Take a free tour of the Teatro Solis at 11 am and 12 pm, and possibly at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
Thursday: Visit the Museo Figari (any day of the week).
Friday: Take the Free Tour meeting at the Ciudadela Gate at 10 am and 3 pm.
Saturday: See the Artists at the Mercado del Puerto(hey, let's celebrate with a bottle of bubbly).
Sunday: Soak in verdant Punta Carretas's golf course until sundown.
